Ayurvedic science in modern times

During the Muslim invasion (620-1759 A.D.), India saw the destruction of countless sacred temples, monasteries, universities and institutions.

Later, under the British Empire, it had to suffer the submission to a foreign power again. Throughout all this period of invasions, the development of Ayurvedic medicine remained marginalized and stalled. However, after the independence of India, in 1947, the government of the country has made a revaluation of the Ayurveda, taking the level it deserves as an ancestral patrimony. The deep faith of the Indian people in their own roots contributed in a special way to help Ayurveda resurface to the scope of human knowledge.

Since then, the teaching of this medical science was remarkably intensified with the establishment of numerous Ayurvedic medicine departments in the universities. Research has increased significantly. Numerous Ayurvedic hospitals and facilities opened. The traditional drugs were and codified again many laboratories were set for the analysis and production of medicine.

In recent years, the use of chemical synthetic medication has shown limitations in treating illness, mainly due to harmful side effects.

Matching this evidence, it is possible to see a tendency to return natural options, and an increasing awareness that nature protects those who protect her. The Ayurveda works actively in this field and that is the reason it has spread throughout the world.

The Ayurveda is, then, a science, an art and a philosophy of life to help mankind. And we embrace it with the intention of aging graciously; and, of course, to spread it throughout the wonderful Caribbean and Latin American regions.
